ચબુતરો!

અમદાવાદ ની પ્રજા વર્ષો થી પશુ-પક્ષી ને પ્રેમ કરતી આવી છે. આવા ચબુતરા જુના વિસ્તાર માં દરેક પોળ અને નાકા પર જોવા મળી શકે. પક્ષીઓ માટે ચણ અને પાણી રાખવામાં વપરાતા આવા ચબુતરા થી મુક્ત રીતે ફરતા પક્ષીઓ ને આરામ થી ખોરાક અને પાણી મળી રહે છે. જુના જમાના માં અલગ અલગ પ્રકાર ની કોતરણી થી ચબુતરા સજાવવામાં આવતા હતા, આ એનો એક નમુનો માત્ર છે.

હઠીસિંહ ના દેરા

દિલ્હી દરવાજા વિસ્તારમાં આવેલા હઠીસીંગના દેરાં જૈન ધર્મના શ્રદ્ધા સ્થળ તરીકે દૂર દૂર સુધી વખણાય અને પૂજાય છે. ઈ.સ.૧૮પ૦માં એક જૈન વેપારી દ્રારા તેનું નિર્માણ કરાવવામાં આવ્યું હતુ. શ્રી ધરમનાથને સમર્પિત હઠીસીંગના દેરાનું નિર્માણ શુદ્ધ આરસ માંથી કરવામાં આવ્યું છે. જેને જોઈને કોઈને પણ એવો વિચાર આવ્યા વિના ન રહે કે આશરે દોઢ સદી પહેલા આટલા વિશાળ બાંધકામ માટે આટલો બધો આરસ ક્યાંથી અને કેવી રીતે લાવવામાં આવ્યો હશે.

Sidi Saiyad Mosque (Sidi Saiyad ni Jali)

Sidi Saiyad Mosque

The Sidi Saiyad Mosque is a renowned ancient mosque in Ahmedabad, built by Ahmed Shah’s slave Sidi Saiyad in 1571. Situated near the famous Lal Darwaja at Bhadra, it was once part of the city wall of Ahmedabad. The most interesting features of the mosque are the fabulous Jhali screens lining its upper walls and the magnificent and exclusive stone tracery. The screens are framed in ten semi-circular windows and are built in Indo-Saracenic style of architecture. The carved stone windows depict the complex intertwining of the branches of the kalpa tree.

Adalaj ni vav (Adalaj step-well)

Adalaj ni vav

The Adalaj step-well is a popular tourist attraction. The well was built in 1499 A.D. by Queen Rudabai. The step well or Vav, as it is called in Gujarati, is intricately carved and is several stories in depth. The designs on its walls and pillars include, leaves, flowers, birds, fish and other breathtaking ornamental designs. In the past, these step wells were frequented by travelers and caravans as stopovers along trade routes.
